When I'm not painting Ferris Wheels I'm inspired by color palettes, the use of lines and marks. Sometimes I like to add objects or other media to a piece (see The Masterplan of Orange, left). This piece was created for an exhibit that had to include orange in each pieces. I included torn blueprints, luggage airline tag, and old wooden ruler.
These 3 three pieces were created in November of 2016. My starting inspiration was color. I started one piece (left, 3' x 3') and noticed I had 2 more large boards available. So I decided to paint all three at the same time so that they would be similiar in feel and color. It was the most fun I had painting in a long time. The paint just flowed from piece to piece. I chose the titles after the fall election. The pieces have differences but more importantly, have many things in common; color, use of line, and movement. I'd love for all of us to focus on our commonalities not our differences. I think there are more than we think they are! The three can be purchased as a tryptich (hanging all three side by side).
